Support Billing Changes for 2019

    We hope everyone has had a great holiday season!

    TOPS Software will be making some billing changes in 2019 and we wanted to give everyone notice at least thirty days in advance. The below changes will take effect February 2019.

    1. On June 21, 2018, the U.S. Supreme Court issued its opinion in South Dakota v. Wayfair, a sales and use tax nexus case that will have implications for many online sellers and multi-state businesses.

      1. As a result of this ruling, a remote seller has sales tax nexus in many states if the seller, in the current or previous calendar year: 

        1. Had gross revenue from sales of taxable goods and services delivered into the state exceeding $100K; or
        2. Sold taxable goods and services for delivery into the state in 200 or more separate transactions.
        3. Thresholds vary across states with some as low as $10,000 per year. TOPS Software is evaluating on a state by state basis.

      2. TOPS is currently assessing the impact of the ruling and will begin to collect sales and use tax beginning in February if we determine it's applicable in your state.

    2. To continue to provide you the best service possible TOPS has invested heavily in our Support team, growing it from 13 to 19 people, an almost 50% increase. As a result, we will be implementing a modest increase to our Support plans:

      1. Standard support will be $199.95 (plus users)
      2. Premium support will be $329.95 (no user costs)
      3. Hosted clients will see a support increase of $50/month

    3. TOPS has invested in our TOPS Connect service for TOPS Professional and TOPS IQ clients, providing an ecosystem for over 30 partners to integrate to your TOPS solution. An offshoot of this is a greatly increased demand on our support structure. Clients using the TOPS Connect Sync Service will see a $25/month fee beginning in February.

    Even with the above changes in our fee structure, our support costs remain some of the lowest in the industry. As TOPS grows, we continually reinvest in our support team and the tools they use so that we can provide you with the best software backed with the best support team.
