TOPS Announces New Files and Folders Functionality for Internet Backup Service

TOPS Software, the developers of TOPS 2000™ Association Management Software, announced today the availability of TOPS Internet Backup Service: Files and Folders, version 5.0 of their popular Internet Backup Service. The TOPS Internet Backup Service provides TOPS customers with a safe and secure environment in which to protect community financial records and other data used by the TOPS 2000™ Association Management Software from the potentially ruinous effects of a hard drive failure, an act of nature, even the everyday mistakes that can trouble a user.  

This new version takes the service to a whole new level by providing TOPS customers with a disaster recovery solution that now provides the same protection for all the important files on user workstations throughout the company. The new TOPS Internet Backup Service: Files and Folders allows administrators to define individual user accounts, each of whom is authorized to create groups of files and folders on their own workstation that can be backed up onto the TOPS Internet Backup server online.

The new service uses Backup Versioning, which allows a user to maintain up to 99 versions of each backed up file. Backup versioning reduces the amount of storage space that clients utilize by backing up only those files that have been changed since the last backup, instead of every time a backup is scheduled to run. New features include:

• Administrators may define users, or import users from TOPS 2000™. User rights may be defined to allow a user to back up files and folders only, or TOPS community data files as well.
• In addition to backing up TOPS community data, users can now backup documents, spreadsheets, images, and other important files from their workstations.
• Backup versioning allows users to only back up files that have changed since the last backup, reducing the amount of storage space that they utilize.
• Backups are protected by users and passwords stored on TOPS’ Internet server to allow multiple users within each company to utilize the product under the same account.
• Public or Private backup groups allows administrators to restrict who can view and restore these files.
• Restoring a backed up file, folder or a version of a file is easy in the restore window’s tree view. Users restore only what they want, where they want it. Restore backed up data from any computer with Internet access.
• User selected backup groups and the TOPS community data may be scheduled to back up automatically.
• Each user has the option to receive an email alert every time a backup is performed of their backup groups.
• Administrative reports such as user reports and usage data allow an administrator to track usage and billing.
• Backups are stored on servers in two separate locations for maximum, redundant data backup protection.
