TOPS Announces New Security Measures Available to TOPS Interactive Web Site Customers

Gaithersburg, MD -- May 01, 2006

TOPS Software announced today the availability of Secure Site and Secure Connect, two new security measures for their TOPS Interactive Web Site service used by thousands of homeowner associations across the country.

The new security measures allow clients to activate an SSL Certificate (Secure Sockets Layer) on their web site(s). The Secure Sockets Layer protects data transferred over the Internet using encryption stored on the server. Web site visitors will be able to identify this new feature when they attempt to login to the organization's web site. A lock icon will appear in the lower right hand corner of the browser window and the address bar at the top of the browser window will change to an https designation, indicating that the user has entered a secured area.

"Secure Site" will apply security measures to the login page and throughout the private area of an entire web site. Under this option, each community or management company will have it’s own unique SSL certificate. For Management Company clients, this certificate will apply to the Management Company web site, and any community web sites under the management company domain. Secure Site provides a secure way for residents to access their accounting information online.

"Secure Connect" allows Management Company and Association clients to provide a secured gateway to their organization's web site(s). The security will apply to the login pages only, and uses a shared SSL certificate. Clients may choose to use the TOPS Security Certificate, which is registered to TOPS Software, should the web site visitor click on the lock icon on the browser, or Management Company clients may elect to get a security certificate under their own company name, for branding purposes.

In addition to these new features, TOPS Software provides a number of existing security measures, including immediate installation of operating system patches & hot fixes, access control lists, intrusion detection devices, firewall appliances, comprehensive backup policies and security applications. The release of Secure Site and Secure Connect supports TOPS Software's resolve to make TOPS Interactive Web sites the most safe and secure web site service for the association management industry.
