Eve 'n You can
Change from a Fiscal Year to A Calendar Year
Dear Two Loyal Readers,
Happy New Year! It has come to my attention that I actually have
2 readers for sure. I thought it would be nice to send a super TOPS
Support virtual "HUG" just for the two of you from the
Desk of Eve.
Ready??? 1... 2... 3... squeeze HHHHUUUUUUGGGGGG!!!
As you may have noticed, it's End of Year time for a lot of you
"calendar fiscal" types.
Calendar fiscals are soooooo cool.
The coolest really.
So cool that I’m sure there are "oddball fiscals"
out there in TOPS land that may become jealous.
NO WORRIES!!! Soon you too will see the light and convert back
to "normal" TOPS society. :-)When you do, here’s
how to change from an “oddball fiscal year” to a “calendar
fiscal year”:
FIRST, kick everyone out of that
community.
Make that backup of the WHOLE community.
Print all those hard copy reports for 12/31.
SECOND, go to GL, ACCT PERIODS,
and click the Acct Periods button at bottom. THEN, click CLEAR at
bottom.
NOW, change your fiscal to read
your short year. But Eve, what’s a short year?
Say your fiscal usually ends June 30th. Then your short year fiscal
should read from July 1 till December 31st ONLY and your current
period number should be whatever December is. In this case it would
be period 6.
THIRD, close your year :)
LAST, go back to GL, ACCT PERIODS,
and click Acct Periods button at bottom AGAIN, THEN click CLEAR
at bottom. Put in a REGULAR fiscal year starting with January.
*BIG sigh*
PS: if you need help, just call 800-899-5689 or email support@topssoft.com.
The point is that you have now seen the light and converted back
to "normal" TOPS society. ;)
Signing off now, loyal readers. I hope I still have you next month.
Love,
Eve
