Calendar/Scheduler Release
The TOPS Calendar/Scheduler has been in public beta for
6 months now. During this time, our quality assurance team and our
customer beta testers have pounded on the product and provided feedback
for how it can be improved. Already, we have made scores of changes
based on the feedback we have received from you. And now, all of
that hard work will pay off, as we release the new Calendar/Scheduler
to all TOPS v3.2.1™ users in June 2007.
The Calendar/Scheduler is being provided free of charge to all
TOPS v3.2.1™ users, including those not currently on a Maintenance
Support Plan. Here is how the product will be distributed:
For customers on a Maintenance Support Plan:
To receive the new program, each user who wishes to access the
new Calendar/Scheduler will need to perform the steps below:
- In TOPS v3.2.1™, Click Internet, Check for Updates Online.
- Select TOPS2000 as the Module to Check, or if you are not on
an active support plan, select the Free Updates option.
- Click Begin Update to begin receiving the calendar files. TOPS
v3.2.1™ may have to close.
- Once the update is completed, return to TOPS v3.2.1™.
- Click File, Calendar, or press the F9 key to open the Calendar
program.
- You may be prompted to install Microsoft`s dotNet 2.0 framework.
(The .Net 2.0 framework is not installed on this system. Would
you like to install it at this time? If you do not install
the framework this program will not run)
- If this message appears, please click on the link, and follow
the instructions on Microsoft`s web site to install the Framework,
and then repeat step 5 to run the Calendar.
For Customers NOT on a Support Plan:
Customers who do not have a current Maintenance Support Agreement
will be sent a new TOPS v3.2.1™. CD which includes the TOPS
Calendar/Scheduler program. CD's are expected to be mailed out on
June 1st, and should arrive at your doorstep shortly thereafter.
Instructions on how to update the program will be included with
the CD.
Notes
- Please be advised that the Calendar/Scheduler will replace the
current version of the TOPS Scheduler, which is currently used
for scheduling regular updates, or uploads of data for Internet
Services and Plug-Ins. There is no conversion of old scheduler
data, so you will need to make sure you set up the tasks that
you will be replacing from the old scheduler. If you had
items scheduled to run automatically in the old scheduler, please
re-create these items in the new scheduler.
- While the new Scheduler is fully integrated into the Calendar,
it is not necessary to run the Calendar in order to use the Scheduler.
If you prefer, you may simply access the new Scheduler by clicking
Internet, Scheduler, Schedule Tasks from within TOPS v3.2.1™.
- The TOPS Calendar/Scheduler is an independent application that
may be run even when TOPS v3.2.1™ is not running. If you
wish to create a shortcut on your Desktop to the Calendar program,
navigate to C:\TOPS2000\dotnet. Right-click on TOPSCalendar.exe,
and select Send To > Desktop (Create Shortcut).

where we feel very confident that all of our customers are going
