Online Payment AutoPay changes for Credit Cards

To prevent against fraud and reduce payment disputes, our online payment processor, DuesPayment, will no longer allow owners to set up "Auto Pay" on a credit card. Direct Debit autopay will still be available, but for those customers that prefer to use a credit card to make their regular dues payments, a new feature is now available.

Owners simply use the "Click Pay" service to remind them to make payments on a certain day each month. While the processor will not automatically make the payment for the owner, The owner will receive an e-mail each month to remind them to pay online. All they have to do is click on the payment link inside that e-mail to make their payment.

With this change, the owner must initiate the payment process. The advantage to this is that owners can verify the payment before making it, including the credit card account for those people who use more than one card for making payments. Also, this process acts as an owner payment authorization each month. The potential for disputes over the payments and problems resulting from people forgetting to turn off autopay or changing the autopay to a different card etc. is eliminated.

This new policy is a very positive change for associations. The benefit to you is, that there is far less opportunity for an owner to dispute charges and get them reversed by a card issuers, which in turn means fewer dues payments to an association being reversed. It's all about making sure cardholders are always kept abreast of what's going on with their account.

Notice - the AutoPay feature is still available for eChecks, so those who pay with a checking account will not be affected by this - only credit card payments will be affected.
