We have heard from a number of people who are interested in the TOPS Internet Backup Service, but are not sure what they need to do to sign up for this valuable service. Since this exciting new technology also comes complete with an exciting new distribution method, we thought we would help dispel the mystery.

The TOPS Internet Backup Service is 100% automated. This means that from the initial account setup to the actual backups themselves, everything is done online, and everything is managed by programs which are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to allow you to manage your backups on your own timetable.

The only requirements for using the TOPS Internet Backup Service are you must have installed TOPS 2000™ version 3.1, and you must have an Internet connection. (A broadband connection is not required, but we do recommend it for speed purposes.) Once you have fulfilled the requirements, go to www.topsbackup.com, and click the link at the top labeled "Sign Up". This will guide you to the new account setup screen. Other than your standard information, the only thing you will need to know here is your TOPS Client ID. This can be found at the top of any invoice you have received from TOPS Software.

Once you have signed up for the service, you may begin using it immediately. Simply download the manual from the help section of the same website to get simple, easy to follow instructions to setup a backup scheme from TOPS 2000™. If you need to edit your account settings, simply log in to the account maintenance by clicking Log In, also on the www.topsbackup.com site.

So, as you can see, signing up for the TOPS Internet Backup Service is easy and convenient. Take a proactive step to protect your valuable data by signing up for this service today! At only $15 per month, you cannot go wrong!

The shipment of TOPS 2000™ version 3.1 has been temporarily delayed. If you are waiting for a CD to be shipped to you, please be advised that we will resume shipping within the week.

Many of our clients have been asking for the option of being able to use their email in combination with TOPS 2000™. Well, we've heard you speak, and with the newly released 3.1 version, you have that capability. Some uses would be to email an owners history to the owner, collection agency, an attorney in case of liens/foreclosure or anyone else needing that information.

In order to email histories to someone, go to Owner, Maintain and enter the email address you want it sent to. Then when you click on the history button, there will be an email button to click that will generate the message and attach the history. Once you hit send (making sure your internet connection is on) it will send the email.

You can also send financial reports to your Board of Directors. Using the Officer Section, you can create a distribution list for officers and/or committee members. Then by creating web/spooled reports you can attach them to the email and send. For more information and instructions, watch for next month's ezine.
