June 2002Welcome to onTOPS, an e-zine produced by TOPS Software to keep you informed about our products and services. We look forward to hearing your feedback about the e-zine. Please let us know what things you liked, what you would like to see, and any suggested articles. TOPS 2000™ version 3.04 has now been released. This update includes improvements and new features in many of our add-on modules, including Work Order, CC&R, Gate Security, Pool Pass, and Form Letter.

Updates are now being mailed to all customers using the above referenced modules. Our next major update is version 3.1. Many new features are being added, such as a community fact sheet, job streaming, close through functions, cash receipts utility, and rental management to name a few. More details to follow... Stay tuned to this e-zine! We are happy to announce that the CAI Spring Conference held recently in Palm Springs was a successful event. TOPS booth was the first you saw when entering the exhibition hall, so we had much activity throughout the show hours. From TOPS were Jeff Hardy, Holly Morris, Ryan Allen and Bruce Gran. The next show scheduled is the California Association of Community Managers (CACM) Expo to be held August 15 and 16, 2002 at the Disneyland Hotel in Anaheim, CA; we will be located in booth 99. Come and register for a free Palm Pilot! We are also planning to exhibit at CAI's Fall Conference to be held in Orlando, FL (Disney World), October 24 to October 26, 2002, booth location to be announced. We look forward to seeing you in Orlando! Are you afraid of utilities? The utilities menu can seem scary, but if used properly when you need it, it is one of the best tools available to you. In the utilities menu is where you can export data files and make changes in the raw data. This can be useful not only for making direct fixes to your data, but also for exporting data to use in another program, such as Excel or Access. We encourage you to always make a copy of the file you intend to export prior to the export. You can also use the utilities to rebuild corrupted files. Again, we will be happy to walk you through this the first time to get you comfortable. It is better to go through with us than to do it incorrectly and have to restore from a backup. We are always here to help. All you have to do is pick up the phone and give us a call. You can also e-mail the support department at support@topssoft.com. Be sure to include your name, your company name, contact information, and your customer ID, if possible. WARNING: Extreme care should be employed when using the utilities menu. Always be sure to backup any data you will be working with prior to using utilities. We also recommend that administrators employing the users and passwords feature restrict access to the utilities module. We encourage you to contact TOPS Technical Support if you feel uncomfortable with a utility. We will be happy to walk you through the use of any utility the first time. As we approach the summer season, our Pool Pass Module should be considered for your pool area facility. The Pool Pass module allows the generation of a digital image ID that ties the pass holder to the unit by user type, which makes tracking pass holders easier and more accurate.
